3 Ideas for Decorating Your Outdoor Trees for the Holidays

During the holiday season, you may want to get into the Christmas spirit by decorating some of your outdoor trees. In order for them to really become a focal point in your yard, you need to decorate them the right way. If you aren’t sure where to start, here are some wonderful ideas to decorate your outdoor trees this holiday season.

1. Solid Colored Lights

Christmas lights are an easy and inexpensive way to decorate your yard. Just by putting a few strands of lights on an outdoor tree, you can make it stand out. If you want to really make a statement, choose brighter colors. Hot pink, deep blue, and fluorescent orange are all great options. If you’d rather use traditional Christmas colors, you can’t go wrong with red or green lights. Before you decorate your yard, you should have old limbs and brush removed. It’s actually a great time of year to have this done because many trees are bare during the winter, and this makes it easier to move dead branches or fallen debris.

2. Colorful Ornaments

You can easily make your yard look festive by adding colorful ornaments to your outdoor trees. Just make sure you choose ornaments that are durable and can withstand winter weather. Only hang ornaments that are unbreakable so that if they fall off of the tree during a winter storm, they won’t shatter when they hit the ground. If you plan on decorating more than one tree, you can either decorate all of the trees with matching ornaments, or you can make each tree have its own theme.

3. Timed Displays

If you want to go all out this holiday season, you should consider having a timed display on an outdoor tree. How this works is that you set lights to the timing of the music, and the lights will flash on and off to match the rhythm of a specific song. You can also go one step further by making Christmas lights on your house a part of the timed display as well. These types of displays work best when you utilize more than one tree.

If you are ready to start decorating your yard for the holidays, you shouldn’t forget about decorating some of your outdoor trees as well. However, before you start adding lights or ornaments to them, you do need to make sure that your trees don’t need to be trimmed or have any dead branches.
